Best Summer Party Ever! Event Ideas your Guests will Love

Summer is upon us and with it comes a bevy of reasons to gather and celebrate. Whether you’re planning a retirement celebration, a wedding, company picnic or family pool party, we have compiled our favorite event planning ideas and tips to make your summer party the best ever!

1. Bug Spray & Sunscreen Station

The great outdoors can sometimes be a great pain, with pests and UV-rays threatening to ruin the fun. Do more than lighting Tikki torches and citronella candles: provide a bug spray and sunscreen station! Display a basket near the guest book, gift table or restrooms where guests who might have forgotten their own will happily see you’ve got them covered.  We also love to include a cute sign encouraging guests to help themselves – this can tie into your overall event decor and ensure people know they can use the displayed items.

2. Floral Ice Cubes & Infused Waters

Everyone knows that it’s important to stay hydrated in the summer months, so get your guests to love their water by making it decorative and tasty. Think floral ice cubes that will look picture perfect in your ice bucket. Or slice up some delicious fruit for infused waters that make the most refreshing drink! We love infusing water with cucumber, lemon, melon or berries.

3. Lawn Games

Keep the kids (and adults!) entertained by adding lawn games to your summer shindig. Horseshoe, bocce ball, and cornhole are an inexpensive way to entertain and engage party goers. Break employees into teams at company picnics where winners are awarded fun prizes or give wedding guests a break from dancing with a separate lawn game space.

4. Pie Bars

Summer is the time for pie! Seasonal fruits like peaches, strawberries & blueberries are in abundance and best served in pie form. But don’t limit yourself to just one flavor.  A pie bar will let guests pick from a variety of sweet bites as well as serving double duty as a focal point in your event (because what pie doesn’t deserve to to be the focal point?!). Just don’t forget a side of vanilla ice cream!

5. Grilled Everything!

Elevate your everyday barbecue by adding grilling up some surprises.  Guests will expect hot dogs and hamburgers but they won’t expect grilled fruit (peaches, pineapple or watermelon all work great!) or a grilled salad.  A head of grilled romaine with red onion and crisp bacon, drizzled with peppercorn ranch is an unexpected and delicious summer side dish that will delight your guests.

6. Tablecloth Clips

Don’t forget tablecloth clips! An often overlooked detail, lap-length table cloths don’t have enough weight to keep from flying away should the wind pick up.  Adding tablecloth clips or opting for floor length linens with a decorative tie is an easy fix and a great way to keep your decor in place. Bonus Tip: Skip tablecloths altogether by upgrading to farm tables. We love the rustic Southern look and you can skip the cloth.
